Loch Scridain on the Isle of Mull is readily accessible and provided a great opportunity to photography this series of Eider (Someteria mollissima) photos. They were taken in mid May so almost all of these will be non breeding birds. Eiders are one of my favourite birds for a couple of reasons, the male always looks so majestically proud and the far reaching ‘ah-hooo’ call seems so haunting.

Comments are of course welcome, let me know what you think. Are you a bird photographer? If so let us know what bird photography means to you. Share your photo successes, failures and frustrations.
Loch Scridain can be accessed from the main Craignure to Fionnphort road. Take the lochside road to Salen for some really good views and photo opportunities.
