Loch Scridain on the Isle of Mull is readily accessible and provided a great opportunity to photography this series of Eider (Someteria mollissima) photos. They were taken in mid May so almost all of these will be non breeding birds. Eiders are one of my favourite birds for a couple of reasons, the male always looks so majestically proud and the far reaching ‘ah-hooo’ call seems so haunting.
