Romantic Paris – creating a ‘vintage’ look

In romantic Paris finding streets and views devoid of cars, advertisements and modern road signs often proved a little difficult but not impossible.

I wanted to create a series of romantic Paris images with a ‘vintage’ nostalgic, perhaps even a romantic feel to them and have put this collection together that has hopefully captured the ‘feel’ I was after.

Varying degrees of sepia toning, high contrast and a touch of vignetting have been added as part of the processing from the original RAW file. I prefer to process each image based on its individual merits and rarely batch process images for this kind of work, to me this approach gives each image my personal stamp making it unique to create the look I want.

Above all, I craved to seize the whole essence, in the confines of one single photograph, of some situation that was in the process of unrolling itself before my eyes. – Henri Cartier – Bresson
